2004 NOAA in NC Meeting:

Over the years, individual NOAA offices and programs in NC and SC have collaborated on many cross-line office, interdisciplinary projects, for example: improving rip current safety; developing better flood and storm-surge models, predicting climate change impacts, and identifying changing coastal demographics and impacts on the coastal environment. In May 2004, a broad-based committee of NOAA representatives in North Carolina coordinated a similar meeting in Wilmington, NC, to highlight these and other NOAA partnership efforts; the resulting report recommends new potential research and outreach mechanisms. In February 2005, the results of this meeting were presented, along with subsequent resulting success stories, to the NOAA Goal Team leads, who encouraged us to continue our efforts and to expand to include SC along with NC.
