BRIEFING TO NOAA MANAGEMENT Andy Shepard and Dean Gulezian traveled to NOAA’s National Weather Service headquarters May 17, 2006 to brief NOAA’s management on NOAA in the Carolinas’ activities, accomplishments, and goals. The briefing included NOAA in the Carolinas’ mission and organization, the annual meetings and the discussions and accomplishments resulting from those meetings, potential new partnerships, and a request for a limited funding commitment from the NOAA Assistant Administrators. Kevin Kelleher gave a briefing on CIFLOW (Coastal Inland Flood Observation and Warning Project), sharing ongoing work and engaging in discussion to couple all of the CIFLOW research and modeling efforts in the PPBES process through NOAA in the Carolinas.
At the June 13 Steering Committee meeting, it was decided to forego any request for funding at this time, primarily due to winning the NOAA 200th Celebration grant. See the June 13 Steering Committee notes for more information. As for CIFLOW, work is ongoing to bring CIFLOW into the FY09 PPBES initiative through the Weather and Water program goal, specifically, through the Coastal Estuary Ocean Program and through the Weather and Water Science Technology Program. Included in the June 13 Steering Committee meeting notes is a proposed PPBES submission for CIFLOW for the FY09 FY13 cycle. Thanks to Andy, Dean, and Kevin for their promotion of NOAA in the Carolinas! Relevant Web Sites Media
