GRANT AWARDED TO NOAA IN THE CAROLINAS

NOAA in the Carolinas was awarded a NOAA’s 200th Celebration grant of $22,500, thanks to hard work and contributions from many in NOAA in the Carolinas. NOAA’s 200th anniversary is in 2007, and NOAA is celebrating by awarding grants to those organizations that planned innovative efforts to share NOAA’s rich history and current, cutting-edge environmental services with NOAA’s customers.

The estuary live event will be just one example of how
funding from this grant will be applied.

During 2007, NOAA in the Carolinas will engage in many outreach activities throughout the Carolinas, with an emphasis on sharing NOAA in the Carolinas’ successes and partnerships particularly on Earth Day. NOAA and NOAA in the Carolinas will also be shared extensively through Estuary Live, a live, interactive, streaming internet educational program led by the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve which reaches thousands of students each school year. Through the rest of the 2006 fiscal year, grant activities will focus on obligating the resources given, including purchasing outreach materials and displays, and sharing with NOAA anticipated 2007 grant milestones, which NOAA in the Carolinas will reach with help from all of NOAA in the Carolinas members, including you! Thanks again for the support!
